What to look forward to on Everlasting Productions in August!

It's Saturday morning. My belly is full of delicious, freshly baked bread (I’m French so you know, we don’t kid around with breakfast). I had about a gallon of coffee and am somehow still not fully awake. Regardless! Let’s do this!

Everyone, welcome Marla Eizik, our editor extraordinaire!

It took Tom and I way too long to realize handling the production and promotion of a monthly series and a Substack newsletter by ourselves was nothing short of madness. I sort of had been looking for someone but couldn’t make a decision when Marla Eizik, who I knew as Talent Liaison at Image emailed she was leaving the company. 

Marla was the perfect fit for us. She has a deep knowledge of the direct market and the solitication process, AND she had been colleagues with the very people who were putting the comics together. She’s also super dynamic, fun, incredibly professional, and trustworthy. She’s been with us for about a month and a half and I could not be more grateful she agreed to join us! Marla, you’ve been the best to work with :)

You have until August 22 to pre-order Love Everlasting #2

The Direct Market (aka, comics shop) is weirdly set up: stores have to order issue 2 of a comic BEFORE issue 1 has had a chance to come out, before readers have had a chance to say “this comic is rad, I want to know what happens next!”. 

I’m sure this makes sense for the distributors but it requires tremendous trust from retailers and readers alike to keep ordering a comic they still don’t know much about. However! The good thing with this Substack and releasing the comic in advance here means that you do know what happens in issue 2! If not, you can…

Free subscribers will get a chance to read the arc finale on August 24! The series will then take a short  break and return with #6 on September 28!

Update on rewards for paying subscribers

• Live Q&A: the first (out of two) live will happen next Saturday, August 13. We’ll send a link to sign-up  to everyone concerned in the next few days.

• Our Art Rafle is scheduled for the end of September. There’s a Love Everlasting original page to win!

• The mini-print and exclusive Substack editions (#1 artist edition, variant edition and collected edition) are going out to the printer by the end of next week. They will be ready for fulfillment about 7 weeks later, for a delivery at your homes in about 9 weeks total. This is a little later than I had talked about (we were originally on a August delivery),  but we will still be within the first year of your subscription. Tom and I launched six months after the first wave of creators (in Feb 1 versus Aug 1 for everyone else), this explains why we’re still in the process of fulfilling your orders.
