This was great! Elsa, your art wonderfully echoes vintage romance comics while complementing Tom's script. (I'm a subscriber, so I'm allowed to use your first names - right? HAH!)
And though I sometimes feel there's too much gratuitous swearing in comics, the f-bomb at the end was perfect.
The next chapter can't get here soon enough! But I have to ask: This series is billed as "ongoing," but it sure seems like there has to be an endgame at some point. Is this going to be a 12-part serial, at which Tom is the king? (sorry)
Tom here! No, for the first time since Batman I'm going beyond 12. I have a big long term plan for how this all plays out and it's going to take quite a few issues for us to get there. There's so much story here. And Thanks!
I love the rule-of-three joke construction across these stories, with two conflict-free deus-ex-machina endings, followed by an absolute punch of a reversal in the third, and a final sting at the end. I'm so excited to see where this goes. The more I think about the details, the more elegant the whole thing feels. Can't wait for more.
Beautiful artwork! I hope we'll get some more recurring characters besides Joan, though - King's ability to draw out connections between characters is my favorite thing about his writing (well, also his structures and the poetic nature of his scripting). It reminds me a lot of the Doc Shaner sections of Strange Adventures - being a pretty straightforward pastiche of a past genre. I very much hope to see something along the lines of Omega Men's Kyle's journey of faith, Vision's journey of love with his family, Batman and Catwoman's journey towards each other, and Christopher Chance's journey to death...maybe ;).
Wow! What a great start. A little bit Quantum Leap, a little bit Ordinary Joe and a whole lot of fun. I am not sure where we go next but this looks to be a heck of a ride!
Ha, that's a perfect description! I'll have to steal it for these Hollywood meetings I'm doing. My Quantum Leap childhood love is coming through, good to know. --T
That was great! The wife and I read this together tonight. Our favorites were that last panel at the bottom of the Kit story with the shot of her eyes and the first unfinished art style and then the ah fuck at the end. Looking forward to issue #2. 😍
So great. The genre was dying to come back and this is such the way to do it. (why doesn't anybody talk about the teen romance in Alan Moore's Swamp Thing? I can't tell if it's for real or for fun.). That said... for the love of god, would you PLEASE do some t-shirts? It's been a whole day! Why do I have to wait so long!?
We're looking into everything. T-Shirts are hard because of the sizes and the stock you have to keep. But I really want to do them. Mostly so I can have one. --T
I've tried to get my girlfriend to read comics for years now. I got her to read the first two issues of Love Everlasting and now she can't wait for the next issues to come out. Great work Tom King, Bravo!

Wow that was fantastic. Bravo guys 👏
Thanks so much, Jack!
Is love really everlasting or just a false state of mind? Hmmm… “Love” the story so far and I can’t wait to read more!
Brilliant.
*some spoilers*

Sarah, you're spoiling us! Thanks so much for your nice words and keep your eyes peeled for some brilliant structure work by Tom in the coming issues!
That was clever and a lot of fun. Love the art on this as well.
:)
That was excellent! I knew after the first chapter that it had to go to weird places...

Hehe, you're onto something here... :)
Loved it. Looking forward to the next issue 🙂
Thanks! Issue 2 is coming on March 9!

LOVED that cliff hanger!!!! How long until you release issue 2?
Just about a month! We'll be releasing Love Everlasting on a monthly schedule, just like your regular comics. But you know, for free.

Glad you picked up on that! Thanks, Ron!

Hey - pick a couple of panels & put it up to a vote! Quit holding on so tight to the creative reins, man!

Looking forward to reading more. I'm going to have to slap together a glowing review of it soon!
